HangzhouHangzhou is located in southeastern China, with a population of approximately two million people within the city proper. In fact, Hangzhou has been included among the 10 most scenic places in China. The centerpiece of tourism in Hangzhou is its West Lake, that, along with its natural beauty, is home to some of most beautiful sites and views in the city, of its pagodas, of the lake, and the surrounding hillsides. The city is dotted with Buddhist temples, and pagodas, and ancient palaces and buildings dating back to the Song and Ming dynasties. And the botanical gardens are among the most beautiful in all of China. Hangzhou is also home to the National Tea Museum, the China National Silk Museum, and the famous Lingyin Temple. And the city is surrounded by streams, caves, and spectacular waterfalls. In spite of the fact that this is a city steeped in history and culture, there is a thriving nightlife scene in Hangzhou. There are pubs, coffee bars, and dance clubs for those who are so inclined. And of course, with a city of this size, there are traditional dining establishments of all sorts, with white linen tablecloths and cut glass crystal, along with the street vendor who sells noodles and dumplings from his cart, and everything in between. There is live Chinese theatre nearly all year round, along with the famous Chinese opera, for the musically inclined. Hangzhou is a multicultural experience, just waiting to be had.
