Holland is Magic!

Holland is a magic country. It is a land that was not discovered by people, nor people have been given it, but they have created it. The same magic might be found by the traveler in its capital: Amsterdam. In the Golden Age (17th century), the time of Rembrandt, Amsterdam was a wealthy town. And even now this city is still present. with its symbols loaded with history, like the wall plaques over doorways bearing the emblems of various crafts, the canals built at the height of the city’s greatness, the innumerable bridges stretching over the canals, alike but never identical. The town we see today is still a city of the 17th and 18th centuries where houses still seem to rise directly from the water. And it is here that the similarity between Amsterdam and Venice is most striking. In fact the most-quoted nickname for Amsterdam is “Venice of the North”. The idea of water cannot be separated from the history of the city whose name derives from a dam and a river (the Amstel). The idea of water leads to the harbor: here you can’t but imagine how it looked like at the end of the 18th century when it harbored over 2500 merchant vessels which supplied all Europe, often with exotic products from all over the world. In charming Amsterdam you will relive the magic of the country, and you will be enchanted by the voice of the past, that is still present.
